The New York Polish Film Festival – under the honorary patronage of Andrzej Wajda, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the USA, and the European Film Academy – is proud to announce its 12th annual edition from April 27- May 1, 2016. After presenting more than 250 Polish features, shorts and documentaries, the NYPFF has grown into an integral part of Manhattan’s cultural life. Most of the screenings will take place at the Anthology Film Archives between April 27 and 30, and will feature conversations with the actors and directors from Poland. Among the selection of acclaimed new Polish films are:

 Body, directed by Malgorzata Szumowska (winner of the Silver Bear at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival);

NY premieres of The Righteous by Michał Szczerbic, and The Here After by Magnus Von Horn (Cannes 2015 Directors Fortnight and Toronto Film Festival selection);

The Polish box office hit Those Daughters of Mine by Kinga Dębska, starring Agata Kulesza (best known in the US from the Oscar-winning Ida);

Jerzy Skolimowski’s 11 Minutes;

Polish-French co-production Raging Rose by Julia Kowalska;

Planet of Singles by Mitjia Okron, a comedy starring one of Poland’s most popular actors, Maciej Sthur.

The NYPFF will also honor the memory of Krzysztof Kieslowski on the 20th anniversary of his death: in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute, a special retrospective screening of one of his masterpieces will be presented. It will be introduced by Annette Insdorf, Columbia University Film Professor and author of Double Lives, Second Chances: The Cinema of Krzysztof Kieslowski.
